Second Line Treatment

Quinine Sulfate + Doxycycline

Doxycycline not recommended in children <8 years

OR

Quinine Sulfate + Tetracycline

Tetracycline not recommended in children <8 years

OR

Quinine Sulfate + Clindamycin

Quinine Sulfate + Doxycycline or Tetracycline is generally preferred to Quinine Sulfate + Clindamycin because there is more data on its efficacy

Third Line Treatment

Atovaquone + Proguanil (Malarone)
