Alternative Regimens

7 -10 days

Alternative Regimens

Azithromycin 500 mg PO day 1, 250 mg PO daily for days 2-5

Doxycycline is alternative for azithromycin in patients with cardiac risk factors (ie QT prolongation)

PLUS EITHER

Cedfinir 300 mg PO twice daily

OR

Ceftriaxone 2 g IV daily
  • Less preferred due to increased adverse effects, patient noncompliance or cost.

OR

Cefpodoxime 200 mg PO twice daily

  • Non-formulary inpatient medication at BC

  • Less preferred due to increased adverse effects, patient noncompliance or cost.

MAY ALSO CONSIDER

Moxifloxacin 400 mg PO daily

  • Non-formulary inpatient medication at BC

  • Less preferred due to increased adverse effects, patient noncompliance or cost.
