Female Uncomp Cystitis Rx

Review previous urine culture data if recurrent UTI

Nitrofurantoin 100mg PO BID x 5 days, unless pyelonephritis or eGFR <60

OR

TMP-SMX 1 DS PO BID x 3d, if minimal previous antibiotic exposure

OR

Fosfomycin 3g PO once, especially if risk of resistant organism, including recurrent UTI, antimicrobial exposure, and travel

OR

Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 500 PO BID x 5 days

OR

Cephalexin 500 mg PO QID x 5 to 7 days

E coli susceptibility in Eastern Health 2017 Antibiogram = 88%
(based on cefazolin susceptibility)
