Antimicrobials
Antibiotic therapy should be instituted immediately once the diagnosis is suspected
Initial Empirical Therapy
Streptococci Infection
Staphylococci Infection
Methicillin Resistant S. aureus Infection
Gram-negative Enteric Bacilli Infection
HACEK Group / Vancomycin Resistant or Intolerant Infection
Fungi / Candida spp / Aspergillus spp Infection
Culture Negative Endocarditis
A total of 4-6 weeks of treatment is recommended
If symptoms ≤3 months, treat for 4 weeks
If symptoms >3 months, treat for 6 weeks
Depending on the clinical and laboratory responses, antibiotic therapy of IE may require modification and in some instances more prolonged treatment is required
