Pharmacist Consult to pre-arrange outpatient medication coverage
Vancomycin 125mg PO/NG QID x 10 days
THEN
Rifaximin 550mg PO BID x 20 days
Fidaxomicin 200mg PO BID x 10 days
If not used for previous episode
May use diluted IV vancomycin PO or NG if needed as it is difficult to remove powder from capsules (reconstitute 500 mg vial as per directions and then further dilute in 30 mLs of water prior to administration)
Fecal Microbiota Transplantation
Recommended for patients with multiple recurrences of CDI whose conditions have failed appropriate antibiotic treatments
