Staphylococcus aureus

Duration of Therapy

Consider 7-10 days if rapid clinical improvement, otherwise 10-14 days

Note

If breast abscess suspected, urgent assessment

Suggested Regimen

Cephalexin 500 mg PO q6h

OR

Cefazolin 1-2 grams IV q8h

Penicillin Allergy

Clindamycin 150-450 mg PO q6-8h
