  • Surgical prophylaxis.

  • Susceptible Staphylococcal, Streptococcal and Gram negative infections.

  • Allergy (immediate or delayed). Cross allergenicty unlikely with other B-lactams

  • Can cause positive Coombs, cytopenias

Probenecid - prolonged half-life. Drug interaction has been used therapeutically to give once daily cefazolin for the treatment of cellulitis
