Uncomplicated: 7 days (unless otherwise indicated)

Complicated pneumonia (with effusion, abscess, immunocompromised host, etc) may warrant a longer course of therapy

Clinical improvement in 48-72 hrs?

AND

Ensure adequate coverage for Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA and/or MRSA)

∙Previous isolation of MRSA from patient
∙Close household contact of those know to be colonized with MRSA
∙First Nations and/or lives on reserve
