Treatment (> 6 Weeks of Age)

In Order

Dexamethasone 0.6 mg/kg/day IV divided q 6h for 4 days

THEN

Ceftriaxone 100mg/kg/day IV divided q12h

AND

Vancomycin

60 mg/kg/day IV divided q6h

CONSIDER

Acyclovir

IF DEXAMETHASONE GIVEN, THEN

Ranitidine 3mg/kg/day IV divided q 8H

TB, fungal infections and some other uncommon causes of meningitis are not adequately treated by the above regimen. If any of these are suspected consult Infectious Diseases.
