Patients with severe infection are at risk of abdominal compartment syndrome - monitor intrabdominal pressures if possible
Abdominal Compartment Syndrome
Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is defined as intra-abdominal pressure >20mmHg and new organ failure (renal, pulmonary or hemodynamic).
If ACS is suspected consult surgery.
Use culture results to guide therapy
