Ceftriaxone 80-100 mg/kg/day for 10-14 days
OR
Cefotaxime 80-100 mg/kg/day for 10-14 days
Azithromycin 10-20 mg/kg/day for 14 days
For life threatening infections resistant to all other recommended antibiotics, fluoroquinolones may also be used; however susceptibility should be confirmed in the laboratory as resistance is increasing in Southeast Asia
