Suggested Regimen

Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin Monohydrate Macrocrystals) 100 mg PO BID x 5 days

Note: Avoid if early pyelonephritis suspected

OR

Co-trimoxazole 800 mg/160 mg (1 DS tablet) PO q12h x 3 days

Amoxicillin/clavulanate 500 mg PO q8h x 7 days

Ciprofloxacin 250 mg PO q12h x 3 days

Note: should be reserved due to resistance with over use and potential side effects i.e. C. Difficile and MSK arthralgias and acute tendinopathies
