Duration of Therapy

Parenteral therapy may be discontinued 24 hours after patient improves clinically

Oral therapy with doxycycline (+/- metronidazole) should continue to complete a total of 14 days

Suggested Regimen

Cefoxitin 2g IV q6h

AND

Doxycycline 100 mg PO q12h

OR

Ceftriaxone 1 g IV q24h

AND

Metronidazole 500 mg IV q12h

AND

Doxycycline 100 mg PO q12h

Oral therapy after Completion of Parenteral Therapy

Doxycycline 100 mg PO q12h
