With anesthesia if necessary
When to Consider MRI
Consider MRI if 3 of the following 4 findings:
Age > 3.5years
CRP > 1.3mg/dL (or >13mg/dL)
Platelets <320x103 cells/μL
ANC >8.5x103 cells/μl
Discuss MRI results with Orthopaedic & Musculoskeletal Radiologist.
If results are consistent with septic arthritis, proceed to OR for aspiration with appropriate I&D.
