Transient Synovitis

Criteria

Consider Transient Synovitis in the Setting of:

Irritable hip AND all of the following:

  • Afebrile

  • WBC < 12,000

  • ESR < 40mm/h

  • CRP < 2mg/dL (or <20mg/L)

  • Able to bear weight

Protocol

1. Administer Ketorolac 0.5mg/kg x 1 IV push

2. Re-evaluate after 1-3 hours

Clinical Improvement?

Yes

No
