Screen periodically throughout remainder of pregnancy for asymptomatic bacteriuria and treat if found.
Scheduled transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) where mucosal bleeding is anticipated
Culture and treat as cystitis only if bacteriuria is identified.
Screen and treat pre-procedure (only if bacteriuria is identified).
There is no need for post-procedure prophylaxis, unless patient had suboptimal course pre-procedure or patient remains catheterized post-procedure.
Culture and treat empirically post-procedure if symptoms occur.
