Give Prevnar 13 x 1 dose now
Advise the patient to obtain a dose of Pneumovax 23 ≥ 8 weeks later
Notes 1. Revaccination with Pneumovax 23 is recommended ≥ 5 years after the first dose for all immunocompromised patients to boost immunity 2. Revaccination with Pneumovax 23 is also recommended every 10 years thereafter for patients 65 and older as immunity wanes in the elderly 3. Patient is eligible for a free Pneumovax 23 at any pharmacy, public health unit or clinic administering vaccines
