Mycoplasma and Chlamydophila pneumonia is rarely diagnosed due to the difficulty of isolating these pathogens. In rare instances, if it is identified by PCR on respiratory tract samples, directed therapy can be used.

Azithromycin duration is 500mg DAILY x 3 days or 500mg on day 1, followed by 250mg DAILY for 4 days. Longer durations are only indicated for Legionella
