Uncomplicated Cholecystitis

Duration of Therapy

≤ 24 hours post-op

Recommended Empiric Regimen

Cefazolin 2g IV Q8H

AND

Metronidazole 500mg PO/IV Q12H

Therapy Pearls

Met-Cef IV Q8H may be given at certain sites

Cefazolin 3g is used peri-op for ≥ 120kgs

Severe Beta-Lactam Allergy

Gentamicin 120mg IV 30 min PRE-OP

AND

Clindamycin 600mg IV 30 min PRE-OP
