Responsible Parasite

Hymenolepis nana

Antimicrobial Treatment

Praziquantel 25 mg/kg once

  • Taken with liquids during a meal

  • Drug of choice

Alternative Treatment (5-15 kg)

Niclosamide 1g on day 1, THEN 500 mg/day for 6 days

Must be thoroughly chewed or crushed and swallowed with a small amount of water

Alternative Treatment (>15 kg)

Niclosamide 1.5g on day 1, THEN 1 g/day for 6 days

Must be thoroughly chewed or crushed and swallowed with a small amount of water
