Note

Severely affected and immunocompromised individuals may require longer treatment course and/or combination of the two therapies

Responsible Parasite

Strongyloides stercoralis

Antimicrobial Treatment

Ivermectin 200 ug/kg once daily, for 2 days

  • Taken on an empty stomach with water; safety not established for children <15kg

  • Drug of choice

OR

Albendazole 400mg once daily, for 7 days

  • Taken with food; fatty meal increases bioavailability
