Test Dose Procedure

Procedure

  • Administer amoxicillin 25 mg/kg/dose x 1 (Max dose=500mg)

  • Observe for 60 min.

  • Can be administered in a non-ICU setting with 1:1 observation

If Test Dose is Tolerated

1. ASP to discuss results and/or antibiotic changes with physician

2. Update allergy record in EMR

3. Notify primary care provider(s) of de-labeling

If Test Dose is Not Tolerated

1. Update allergy record in EMR to reflect intolerance.
