Penicillin Allergy Skin Testing

If Skin Test Result is Negative

1. ASP to discuss results and/or antibiotic changes with physician

2. Update allergy record in EMR

3. Notify primary care provider(s) of skin test result

If Skin Test is Positive

1. Administer diphenhydramine 1.25mg/kg PO (Max dose = 50mg)

2. If patient experiences systemic symptoms, rapid response protocol will be initiated

3. Update allergy record in EMR to reflect positive skin test
