MSSA:

• Anti-staphylococcal penicillins (i.e. nafcillin) and cephalosporins (i.e. cefazolin) are optimal agents for intravenous therapy of MSSA infections

• Variable susceptibility to TMP-SMX, Clindamycin, and Tetracyclines

• Nafcillin is preferred in high burden disease

MRSA:

• By definition resistant to methicillin and the majority of cephalosporins

• Susceptible to vancomycin, daptomycin, ceftaroline and linezolid

• Variable susceptibility to TMP-SMX, Clindamycin, and Tetracyclines
