"Pansusceptible" isolates are sensitive to:

• Ampicillin

• Cephalosporins (including first generation)

• TMP-SMX

• Fluoroquinolones

• Broader spectrum beta-lactams

Resistant strains may be resistant to third generation cephalosporins (ESBLs), and rarely to carbapenems (i.e. carbapenemase enzymes)

Other drugs:

• Aminoglycosides

• Aztreonam

• Tigecycline

• Colistin

Fosfomycin and Nitrofurantoin for UTI (cystitis) only
