Gram positive cocci in clusters
Coagulase negative
Can be confused with S. aureus
Endocarditis
Osteomyelitis
Blood stream infections
Prosthetic joint infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Coagulase negative but clinically behaves more like Staphylococcus aureus and is more virulent than other coagulase-negative staphylococci
Treatment is similar as for S. aureus
