Skin and soft tissue infection (i.e. cellulitis)

Surgical prophylaxis

Susceptible Staphylococcal, Streptococcal, and Gram negative infections

Adverse Effects

Allergy (immediate or delayed)

Can cause positive Coombs, cytopenias

Major Interactions

Probenecid - prolonged half-life

Drug interaction has been used therapeutically to give once daily cefazolin

Average serum half life: Neonates: 3-5 hours
Adults: 1.8 hours
