Empiric Treatment

Cephalexin 500-1000 mg PO QID

AND

If MRSA suspected:

TMP/SMX DS 1-2 tab PO BID

OR

Doxycycline 100 mg PO BID

MRSA coverage can be discontinued after 48 hours if cultures don’t show MRSA

Severe beta-lactam allergy

Clindamycin 450 mg PO TID
