Mild CAP

Empiric Antibiotic Options

Consider no treatment if likely viral

OR

Amoxicillin 40 to 45 mg/kg PO BID

Penicillin Allergy*

Consider no treatment if likely viral

OR

Cefuroxime 15 mg/kg PO BID

*Avoid all beta-lactams antibiotics (ie cephalosporins, carbapenems) if anaphylaxis to penicillin
