MRSA are resistant to nearly all beta-lactams (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems).
Vancomycin is treatment of choice for invasive infections.
Some MRSA isolates with a vancomycin MIC of 2 will be interpreted as susceptible but may result in clinical failure.
Daptomycin is alternative for endocarditis, and may be considered for refractory MRSA bacteremia.
Linezolid is alternative for MRSA pneumonia.
For non-invasive infections options include: doxycycline, TMP-SMX.
Clindamycin should only be used if confirmed susceptible.
