Citrobacter koseri

General Susceptibility

This organism does not carry a chromosomal AmpC and can be treated with third generation cephalosporins (ceftriaxone) or beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitors (amox-clav, pip-tazo) if susceptible.

For severe illness use pip-tazo or meropenem until susceptibilities are available.

Other options include fluoroquinolones, cotrimoxazole, and aminoglycosides if susceptible.
