General Susceptibility

Beta-lactamase positive: 22% (ampicillin resistant)

For invasive infections, prefer ceftriaxone as empiric therapy until susceptibilities provided - then use ampicillin

Usually susceptible to second and third generation cephalosporins, amoxicillin-clavulanate, fluoroquinolones, clarithromycin/azithromycin, doxycycline

Variable susceptibility to amoxicillin/ampicillin (via beta-lactamase), TMP-SMX

Resistant to first generation cephalosporins.
