Foodborne illness associated with deli meat, soft cheeses, unpasteurized milk, and others.
Often occurs in outbreaks.
Severe/Invasive disease: meningitis, meningoencephalitis, bacteremia, endocarditis.
Non-invasive disease: febrile gastroenteritis.
Often resolves without treatment.
Treatment recommended if immunocompromised, elderly, or pregnant (amoxicillin or TMP-SMX).
