1-2 g IV q8h
Skin and soft tissue infection (i.e. cellulitis).
Surgical prophylaxis.
Susceptible Staphylococcal, Streptococcal and Gram negative infections.
Allergy (immediate or delayed).
Can cause positive Coombs, cytopenias, and hepatic and renal laboratory abnormalities.
Probenecid prolongs the half-life of cefazolin allowing it to be used for once daily therapy. This usage is limited to once daily outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy. Inpatient usage not recommended.
