Associated syndromes

Most commonly a skin contaminant/colonizer.

The most common contaminant of blood cultures.

This may be a real pathogen particularly in nosocomial setting.

Disease manifestations include infections of prosthetic materials including:

  •  Prosthetic valve endocarditis

  •  Vascular catheter infections

  •  Prosthetic joints
