Coagulase negative but clinically behaves more like Staphylococcus aureus and is more virulent than other coagulase-negative Staphylococci.
Staphylococcus lugdunensis should be treated as a true pathogen in most scenarios.
Different from most coagulase negative Staphylococci as most CoNS are methicillin resistant and S. lugdunensis is generally beta-lactam susceptible.
