Standard dose: 2 g IV q8h
Obesity (>120 kg): 2 g IV q6h
Meningitis (does not penetrate the CSF)
Skin and soft tissue infection (e.g. nonpurulent cellulitis).
Surgical prophylaxis.
Susceptible Staphylococcal, Streptococcal and gram-negative infections.
Weekly BMP and CBC
Allergy (immediate or delayed).
Can cause positive Coombs, cytopenias, and hepatic and renal laboratory abnormalities.
