Mild to moderate

First Line

Vancomycin 125 mg PO QID for 10-14 days

Alternative Choices

Fidaxomicin 200 mg PO BID for 10 days (non-formulary)

OR

Metronidazole 500 mg PO TID for 10-14 days

Can be used in patients with mild diarrhea when the costs of vancomycin or fidaxomicin may be prohibitive for their use
