Bordetella pertussis This is a vaccine preventable and notifiable disease. Please contact medical officer of health as contact tracing and post exposure prophylaxis needs to be considered.
Clarithromycin 7.5 mg/kg/dose PO BID x 7 days Maximum: 500 mg/dose
OR
Azithromycin 10 mg/kg/dose PO x 1 dose on Day 1 Maximum: 500 mg/dose Then 5 mg/kg/dose PO daily on Days 2-5 Maximum: 250 mg/dose
