Almost all E. faecalis isolates are susceptible to Amoxicillin OR Ampicillin and should be treated with these agents
Amoxicillin 500 mg PO TID
OR
Ampicillin 1 g IV q6H
Nitrofurantoin 100 mg PO BID*
*Do NOT use in patients with CrCl < 40 mL/min).
