General Susceptibility

Reliably susceptible:

  • Vancomycin

  • Linezolid

Variably susceptible:

  • Penicillin

  • Amoxicillin/Ampicillin

  • Tetracycline

Aminoglycosides used for synergy if no high-level resistance.

If urinary isolate, most are nitrofurantoin susceptible

Serious Enterococcal infections need combination therapy with ampicillin, penicillin, or vancomycin plus an aminoglycoside.

Antibiogram data includes isolates tested from sterile body sites only.

Adults: 23% High-level resistance to gentamicin

Pediatrics: 13% High-level resistance to gentamicin
