Staphylococcus lugdunensis

Antibiotic Regimen

Vancomycin 15-20mg/kg IV Q8-12H

Dose to a target trough level of 15-20mg/L

OR

Cefazolin 2g IV Q8H
  • If sensitive

Duration of Therapy

Minimum 14 days from negative blood culture.

Comments

Type of Coagulase Negative Staphylococcus that can cause severe disease similar to S. aureus

Presence in blood should be presumed to be a true pathogen

Most are sensitive to Beta-lactams
