Patients immunization status will be assessed by the surgeon.
Give vaccines at least 2 weeks before splenectomy.
Give vaccines at least 2 weeks after splenectomy.
However, if a person is discharged earlier than 2 weeks and there is a concern the patient may not receive vaccination in the community, vaccines should be given before discharge.
