Recommended Vaccines

Notes

Asplenic/hyposplenic individuals should receive the following vaccines.

There are no contraindications to any vaccine for asplenic / hyposplenic patients.

Influenza

1 dose every year prior to season

Haemophilus influenza type B

1 dose, regardless of Hib immunization history

Pneumococcal

1 dose PCV13

FOLLOWED BY

1 dose PPSV23 8 weeks later

FOLLOWED BY

Booster PPSV23 5 years later

Meningococcal ACWY

2 doses, 8 weeks apart

THEN

Booster every 5 years

Others as Required
