Definitions

Alternate Level of Care. This is a designation that identifies patients who no longer require intensity of resources or services provided in their current settings, and are waiting for an alternate care facility. There are three units hosting ALC patients. These units are located at the Markham, Uxbridge, and RCC sites.

Reactivation Care Centre. This is a site for ALC patients who no longer require acute care but require additional services to improve their independence.

Complex Continuing Care. These are patients with many care needs, several of whom require active rehabilitation to assist with their recovery.

Vaccine consisting of virus particles, bacteria, or other pathogens that have been killed.

Vaccine that contains live pathogen whose biological activity has been reduced so that their ability to cause disease has been weakened but not totally inactivated.
