Populations NOT requiring Prophylaxis

Note

Intrapartum antimicrobial prophylaxis (IAP) is NOT recommended in the following populations.

Women that have been colonized with GBS during a previous pregnancy.

Women that have had GBS bacteriuria during a previous pregnancy.

Negative vaginal and rectal GBS cultures within the past 5 weeks

Cesarean delivery performed before onset of labor on a woman with intact amniotic membranes, regardless of GBS colonization status or gestational age.
