Typical cellulitis or erysipelas with systemic signs of infection:
Temperature over 38°C
Tachycardia
Tachypnea
Abnormal white blood cell count (over 12,000 or under 400 cells/µL)
Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A β-hemolytic streptococci)
Methicillin-sensitive S. aureus
Cefazolin
Cefazolin Dosing
Clindamycin
Clindamycin Dosing
5-7 days, but in general treatment should be extended if the infection has not improved within this time period.
