Open and Laparoscopic Biliary Tract Procedures in High-Risk Patients
Cholecystectomy, common bile duct exploration, ERCP without acute infections.
The following are defined as high risk patients:
Emergency procedures
Long procedure duration
Intraoperative gallbladder rupture
Age >70yrs
Conversion from lap to open cholecystectomy
ASA class >3
Episode of biliary colic within 30 days before the procedure
Bile spillage
Jaundice
Pregnancy
Nonfunctioning gallbladder
Immunosuppression
Insertion of prosthetic device
Appendectomy
For uncomplicated appendicitis
Small Intestine (Non-Obstructed)
Small Intestine (Obstructed)
Colorectal
Hernia Repair
PEG Placement or Revision
