Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

PID is primarily a disease of sexually active women. Up to 10% of women with untreated gonorrhea and 20% with untreated chlamydia go on to develop PID.

Due to fluroquinolone resistance among Neisseria gonorrhoeae the use of fluroquinolones is no longer recommended.
