Consider oral step-down for earlier hospital discharge.

The unnecessary use of broad spectrum antimicrobials is a significant contributor to antimicrobial resistance in Newfoundland and Labrador.

At day 3 of treatment, please narrow spectrum or discontinue antimicrobials if possible.

Consider shortening the duration of treatment.

Once the patient is improving clinically, additional treatment may be harmful to the patient's microbiome.
